In the first season of Daredevil Born Again we caught up with blind lawyer Matt Murdock years after leaving vigilantism behind as he concentrated on his legal work. The Official Season 2 Plot — What We Know
The season is set around six months after the events of the first season. It sees blind vigilante Matt Murdock gathering allies to resist Wilson Fisk who is the mayor of New York City and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force.
In Season 2 Daredevil will have to help inspire a grassroots opposition to Fisk’s new “Safer Streets Initiative.” Luckily fellow superpowered Defender Jessica Jones is back on Daredevil’s side despite preferring to work alone due to the immense personal threat that Fisk poses to her.
Series director Aaron Moorhead told outlets that Season 2 will begin with Daredevil and Kingpin fully embracing their alter egos instead of trying to hide them.

Unlike Born Again Season 1 which had a two-episode premiere Born Again Season 2 will debut with a single episode. However the following week of March 31 2026 will see Episodes 2 and 3 released together.

Despite being killed in the series’ first episode Franklin “Foggy” Nelson returns for the second season. Producer Amanat said Nelson actor Elden Henson and Karen Page actress Deborah Ann Woll would both appear in different ways and the creative team could not see a Daredevil season without Henson having some involvement.
The Foggy situation is one of the most intriguing mysteries heading into Season 2. Dead characters returning in “different ways” in the MCU covers a range of possibilities from flashbacks to more supernatural explanations. Given where this show lives in Marvel’s street-level universe the most likely answer is emotionally resonant flashback sequences that continue to define Matt’s moral compass even after Foggy’s death.

Krysten Ritter Returns as Jessica Jones

Ritter said she had known about her return to the role for nearly two years and had struggled to keep that secret due to being asked about playing the character again daily.
The comparison to Punisher’s role in Season 1 is a useful calibration. Frank Castle in Season 1 was not a co-lead — he was a powerful presence with his own agenda who intersected with Matt’s story at specific crucial moments. Jessica Jones in Season 2 appears to follow a similar structure: a genuine Defender with her own perspective on the fight against Fisk joining forces with Matt without losing what makes her distinctive.
Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles
Lillard’s mysterious character is called Mr. Charles. He’s a very powerful man who challenges Fisk politically and is not impressed by him as his focus is largely on geopolitical chess moves. It will be fascinating to see these two go head-to-head.
According to Winderbaum Lillard’s character will serve as Fisk’s newest enemy who is also as influential and powerful as him.
At the end of February 2025 Matthew Lillard joined the cast for the season as Mr. Charles in a recurring role. He called it a small role right now and was hopeful the character could return in the future.
Lillard playing a figure who can politically threaten Fisk at his own level of power adds a dimension to Season 2 that pure street-level vigilante conflict cannot provide. Fisk as mayor can crush Daredevil through law enforcement. But he cannot crush someone who operates in the same political and financial stratosphere he does. Mr. Charles represents a threat from above while Matt attacks from below.
Lili Taylor as Governor Marge McCaffrey
In March 2025 Lili Taylor joined in another recurring role as Marge McCaffrey the governor of New York and a political opponent to Fisk.
The governor of New York as a character in Season 2 creates a political pressure on Fisk that comes from legitimate institutional authority rather than masked vigilante opposition. If Matt is building a resistance from the underground and Mr. Charles is challenging Fisk from the financial and geopolitical tier then Governor McCaffrey represents the official governmental layer of the opposition.

Winderbaum said the tones of each project were different but they still wanted to highlight that they exist in the same world.
Born Again Season 2 is the second entry in the MCU’s 2026 slate following Wonder Man’s eight-episode release on January 27 2026. After Born Again Season 2 The Punisher Special Presentation will debut between it and the release of Spider-Man Brand New Day on July 31 2026 where Jon Bernthal will also appear as The Punisher.
