It Is Finally Here — And the Wait Was Worth It

There is a very specific kind of anticipation that builds around a Marvel show when the first season ends on a genuine gut-punch.

Not a cliffhanger in the cheap sense — not a dangling thread designed to manufacture curiosity. A real gut-punch. The kind of ending where the good guys lose comprehensively and you sit with the credits rolling thinking: where on earth do they go from here?

That was exactly where Daredevil Born Again Season 1 left us back in April 2025. And for eleven months Marvel fans have been sitting with that question.

Daredevil Born Again Season 2 returns nearly a year after fans were left with a shocking twist in the Season 1 finale. Season 2 premieres on March 24 2026 on Disney+.

Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home.

Today is the day. The first episode is live. The season has begun. And everything about what has been shown, announced and teased suggests that Season 2 is going to hit harder, move faster and go to darker places than anything we have seen from this corner of the MCU before.

This is your complete guide to everything — the recap, the cast, the episode schedule, the MCU connections and exactly what you need to know before you press play.

What Happened in Season 1 — The Full Recap

Before diving into Season 2 here is the complete story of where we left off.

In the first season of Daredevil Born Again we caught up with blind lawyer Matt Murdock years after leaving vigilantism behind as he concentrated on his legal work. But after New York’s crime situation continued to deteriorate and in the wake of his best friend Foggy Nelson’s death Matt reluctantly returned to dishing out justice on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.

Bullseye and the Punisher also resurfaced but it was once again Wilson Fisk — aka the Kingpin — who became the most difficult to keep down having ascended to the role of New York’s elected mayor. Fisk used his new authority to declare martial law in an effort to stamp out masked heroes for good. This compelled an injured Matt to re-embrace his Daredevil mantle even as he was forced underground with the rest of the city’s vigilantes.

Season 1 director Justin Benson reflected on the finale’s conclusion saying: “The oddly emotionally satisfying thing about that conclusion is that the good guys lost. Matt Murdock lost. Fisk won. There’s something beautiful about them being — yeah we lost. There’s not a lot of hope but we’re going to have the grit to keep going.”

That is the emotional starting point Season 2 inherits. Not triumph. Not reset. Genuine defeat — with the grit to keep going anyway.

The Official Season 2 Plot — What We Know

The season is set around six months after the events of the first season. It sees blind vigilante Matt Murdock gathering allies to resist Wilson Fisk who is the mayor of New York City and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force.

In Season 2 Daredevil will have to help inspire a grassroots opposition to Fisk’s new “Safer Streets Initiative.” Luckily fellow superpowered Defender Jessica Jones is back on Daredevil’s side despite preferring to work alone due to the immense personal threat that Fisk poses to her.

Series director Aaron Moorhead told outlets that Season 2 will begin with Daredevil and Kingpin fully embracing their alter egos instead of trying to hide them.

That shift is significant. One of the most compelling tensions in Season 1 was both men trying to operate within legitimate systems — Matt as a lawyer and Fisk as a political candidate. That pretense is over now. Both men know exactly who the other is and exactly what this fight is about. The masks are on and the gloves are off.

Showrunner Dario Scardapane teased how Season 2 builds directly from the finale’s turning point and expands the story into a larger resistance. Without giving too much away — when you are working in what he calls the Hell’s Kitchen corner of the MCU those iconic characters are always in your mind.

The official tagline — Resist. Rebel. Rebuild. — captures the Season 2 energy cleanly. This is a story about what happens after you lose everything and still choose to fight.

Complete Episode Guide and Release Schedule

Daredevil Born Again Season 2 features eight episodes. Episode 1 titled The Northern Star premieres on March 24 2026 at 9 pm ET on Disney+.

New episodes will drop at 6 pm PT every Tuesday beginning March 24 2026 with the season finale airing on May 5 2026.

Here is the complete episode release schedule:

Episode Title Release Date
Episode 1 The Northern Star March 24 2026
Episode 2 TBA March 31 2026
Episode 3 TBA March 31 2026
Episode 4 TBA April 8 2026
Episode 5 TBA April 15 2026
Episode 6 TBA April 22 2026
Episode 7 TBA April 29 2026
Episode 8 Season Finale May 5 2026

Unlike Born Again Season 1 which had a two-episode premiere Born Again Season 2 will debut with a single episode. However the following week of March 31 2026 will see Episodes 2 and 3 released together.

This schedule change was done to avoid the Daredevil Born Again Season 2 finale clashing with The Punisher One Last Kill special which will release the following week on May 12 2026.

The weekly release model is a deliberate choice and one that serves a show like this particularly well. Daredevil Born Again rewards discussion, theorizing and the kind of community engagement that simultaneous full-season drops tend to collapse into a single weekend before moving on.

Full Cast — Every Returning and New Character

Main cast members returning from the first season include Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter / Bullseye, Zabryna Guevara as Sheila Rivera, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Genneya Walton as BB Urich, Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman, Clark Johnson as Cherry, Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blake, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk and Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne / Swordsman.

Here is the full cast breakdown at a glance:

Actor Character Role
Charlie Cox Matt Murdock / Daredevil Lead
Vincent D’Onofrio Wilson Fisk / Kingpin Lead Antagonist
Krysten Ritter Jessica Jones Major New Addition
Jon Bernthal Frank Castle / Punisher Returning
Deborah Ann Woll Karen Page Returning
Elden Henson Foggy Nelson Returning
Wilson Bethel Bullseye Returning
Ayelet Zurer Vanessa Fisk Returning
Margarita Levieva Heather Glenn Returning
Michael Gandolfini Daniel Blake Returning
Matthew Lillard Mr. Charles New — Recurring
Lili Taylor Governor Marge McCaffrey New — Recurring
Toby Leonard Moore James Wesley Returning

Despite being killed in the series’ first episode Franklin “Foggy” Nelson returns for the second season. Producer Amanat said Nelson actor Elden Henson and Karen Page actress Deborah Ann Woll would both appear in different ways and the creative team could not see a Daredevil season without Henson having some involvement.

The Foggy situation is one of the most intriguing mysteries heading into Season 2. Dead characters returning in “different ways” in the MCU covers a range of possibilities from flashbacks to more supernatural explanations. Given where this show lives in Marvel’s street-level universe the most likely answer is emotionally resonant flashback sequences that continue to define Matt’s moral compass even after Foggy’s death.

The New Faces — Jessica Jones, Mr. Charles and Governor McCaffrey

The three major new additions to Season 2 each represent a different dimension of the story being told.

Krysten Ritter Returns as Jessica Jones

This is the one fans have been hoping for since Born Again was first announced and it is every bit as significant as it sounds.

A month after Season 1 wrapped Defenders member Jessica Jones was announced to be returning as one of Murdock’s allies in the season. Brad Winderbaum said Jessica Jones’s role in the season was comparable to Frank Castle / Punisher’s in the first season.

Krysten Ritter reprises her role as Jessica Jones a former vigilante who is back on Daredevil’s side despite preferring to work alone due to the immense personal threat that Fisk poses to her.

Ritter said she had known about her return to the role for nearly two years and had struggled to keep that secret due to being asked about playing the character again daily.

The comparison to Punisher’s role in Season 1 is a useful calibration. Frank Castle in Season 1 was not a co-lead — he was a powerful presence with his own agenda who intersected with Matt’s story at specific crucial moments. Jessica Jones in Season 2 appears to follow a similar structure: a genuine Defender with her own perspective on the fight against Fisk joining forces with Matt without losing what makes her distinctive.

Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles

Lillard’s mysterious character is called Mr. Charles. He’s a very powerful man who challenges Fisk politically and is not impressed by him as his focus is largely on geopolitical chess moves. It will be fascinating to see these two go head-to-head.

According to Winderbaum Lillard’s character will serve as Fisk’s newest enemy who is also as influential and powerful as him.

At the end of February 2025 Matthew Lillard joined the cast for the season as Mr. Charles in a recurring role. He called it a small role right now and was hopeful the character could return in the future.

Lillard playing a figure who can politically threaten Fisk at his own level of power adds a dimension to Season 2 that pure street-level vigilante conflict cannot provide. Fisk as mayor can crush Daredevil through law enforcement. But he cannot crush someone who operates in the same political and financial stratosphere he does. Mr. Charles represents a threat from above while Matt attacks from below.

Lili Taylor as Governor Marge McCaffrey

In March 2025 Lili Taylor joined in another recurring role as Marge McCaffrey the governor of New York and a political opponent to Fisk.

The governor of New York as a character in Season 2 creates a political pressure on Fisk that comes from legitimate institutional authority rather than masked vigilante opposition. If Matt is building a resistance from the underground and Mr. Charles is challenging Fisk from the financial and geopolitical tier then Governor McCaffrey represents the official governmental layer of the opposition.

Three separate fronts. Three separate challenges to Kingpin’s control of New York. That structural ambition is one of the most promising things about Season 2’s setup.

The New Daredevil Suit — Why It Matters

In May 2025 Cox confirmed that Daredevil would wear an “iconic” suit featuring the “double D” chest emblem. Charlie Cox described the ongoing tension between Matt and Fisk as evolving in Season 2.

The new Daredevil suit features the “DD” logo front and center spotlighting the red suit in an iconic way that Season 1’s version did not.

For fans of the original Netflix run the double-D chest emblem is not a cosmetic detail. It is a symbol of a specific era of Daredevil storytelling — the fully realized version of the character who has stopped hiding and started declaring himself. The suit choice signals exactly what Season 2’s tone says everywhere else: Matt Murdock is done operating from the shadows in the way he used to. He is committing to who he is.

The trailer for Daredevil Born Again Season 2 shows that New York is no longer safe for vigilantes. Wilson Fisk has taken over as mayor of the city and uses his power and people’s fear to dominate the city. He has also made an operational Anti-Vigilante Task Force given unchecked power to carry out raids, arrests and attacks to hunt down Matt and others. Unlike previous times Matt is left with no choice but to embrace the suit with the trailer showing him involved in some heavy action.

How Season 2 Connects to the Larger MCU

This is where Daredevil Born Again Season 2 gets genuinely interesting from a Marvel universe architecture perspective.

The creative team were in constant discussions with the filmmakers behind Spider-Man Brand New Day which includes characters from the season to ensure events lined up and impacts are felt between the two projects. Winderbaum said the tones of each project were different but they still wanted to highlight that they exist in the same world.

Born Again Season 2 is the second entry in the MCU’s 2026 slate following Wonder Man’s eight-episode release on January 27 2026. After Born Again Season 2 The Punisher Special Presentation will debut between it and the release of Spider-Man Brand New Day on July 31 2026 where Jon Bernthal will also appear as The Punisher.

The season is set concurrent with the events of the television special The Punisher One Last Kill.

This simultaneous timeline between Born Again Season 2 and the Punisher special is a more sophisticated piece of MCU storytelling than we typically see in the streaming tier. Events happening in one project are happening at the same time as events in another — which means choices made in Born Again’s eight episodes will have consequences that are felt immediately in the Punisher special rather than waiting for a future season to address them.

After Daredevil Born Again Season 2 the next live-action show is Vision Quest which has an unspecified 2026 release date. Following that at the end of the year audiences will see Avengers Doomsday which is set for release on December 18 2026.

The Hell’s Kitchen corner of the MCU is now a genuine on-ramp to the larger Avengers-level storyline. Born Again Season 2 exists in a specific place in that pipeline and the creative decisions made here will echo forward.

The Punisher Special That Follows

The season finale of Daredevil Born Again Season 2 will air on May 5 2026. It will be followed a week later by Marvel Studios’ The Punisher One Last Kill on May 12 2026.

Following Daredevil Born Again Season 2 X-Men ’97 Season 2 is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in Summer 2026. After Spider-Man Brand New Day opens in theaters towards the end of the summer movie season Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 is expected to air sometime in Fall 2026 on Disney+.

For Jon Bernthal’s Punisher the special presentation format is a fascinating choice. It gives the character room for a complete self-contained story while keeping him connected to the larger narrative that Born Again Season 2 is building. Frank Castle operating in the same timeline as Daredevil’s underground resistance — but pursuing his own objectives in his own way — is exactly the kind of structural storytelling that the Defenders era of Netflix Marvel attempted without always pulling off successfully.

What Season 3 Means for the Future

Here is a piece of news that removes any anxiety about investment risk before you commit to Season 2.

The show has already been confirmed to return for a third season ahead of Season 2’s premiere.

The Marvel series has already been renewed for a third season so we are likely in for a brutal and fulfilling journey as Matt Murdock finds himself battling villains and personal demons while dealing with a New York under Kingpin’s thumb.

The early renewal announcement changes how you experience Season 2 as a viewer. Every story beat, every character introduction and every unresolved thread in these eight episodes is scaffolding for something larger that Marvel has already committed to building. Mr. Charles is not a one-season curiosity. Governor McCaffrey is not a plot device. Jessica Jones is not a cameo.

They are pieces of a story that has at minimum one more full season to develop. That is a fundamentally different level of creative ambition than a show operating without confirmation of its future.

Where and How to Watch

Season 2 premieres on March 24 2026 at 9pm ET / 6pm PT exclusively on Disney+.

The series streams exclusively on Disney+ which costs $7.99 per month for the ad-supported tier or $13.99 per month for the ad-free experience.

The first episode will hit Disney+ in the UK on Wednesday March 25 at 1am GMT.

Marvel Television launched a nine-episode Daredevil Born Again Official Podcast which began on March 17 2026. The companion podcast streams on Disney+ with new episodes releasing weekly alongside the show. It will feature guests from the cast including Charlie Cox, Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva and Vincent D’Onofrio.

The companion podcast is worth adding to your weekly routine alongside the show. Behind-the-scenes context from the people who actually made the episodes tends to deepen the experience of watching considerably — particularly for a show with the narrative complexity Born Again Season 2 appears to be building toward.

Final Verdict — Should You Watch Season 2?

Yes. Without any qualification or hesitation.

Everything about the setup for Season 2 represents a creative team that has learned exactly the right lessons from what worked and what needed strengthening in Season 1.

The storytelling ambition is higher. The stakes established by Season 1’s ending are genuine and have not been cheaply reversed. The cast has been expanded in ways that feel organic rather than promotional — Jessica Jones joining Matt’s resistance makes complete sense given what Fisk now represents to every powered person in New York.

In Daredevil Born Again survival, resistance and redemption collide as the battle for the soul of New York begins. In Season 2 Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.

Charlie Cox said of Season 2: “The thing I’m most excited by this season is how well Dario has fleshed out other characters and storylines.”

A showrunner who uses the expanded canvas of a second season to develop the people around the lead character rather than just escalating the lead’s personal drama is a showrunner who understands what makes serialized television genuinely rewarding over time. That philosophy — more world, more depth, more reason to care about everyone on screen — is exactly what distinguishes the great Marvel television from the adequate.

Every indication is that Daredevil Born Again Season 2 is the great kind.

Eight episodes. Weekly drops. The battle for New York has begun.
